Note: all characters are older than 21.
Jesse St. James: A Hollywood native, Jesse has grown up around show business and its people. Both of his parents were famous actors before they suffered a tragic death when Jesse was just fifteen. It was for that reason that Jesse had to move in with his uncle, who owned a parlour, and found his true calling. A witty, sharp businessman, Jesse knows just what it takes to make it in the business — and that's how he finds all the starlets who are meant to become famous once they get too big for his parlour. One of these starlets is a certain Quinn Fabray, who Jesse has been happily married to for two years now, even if she refuses to take his last name.
Finn Hudson: Finn is what you'd call clueless when it comes to the entertainment world. He reluctantly moved to Tinseltown with his stepbrother, having been forced to do so because their parents didn't want Kurt alone in such a big city. He doesn't really know what he wants to do, but he quickly gets caught up in the business when the current star of Vocal Adrenaline takes a liking to him and makes him figure out just how perfect the job of manager is for him. He and Rachel begin dating, but he fails to see that she's only dating him to improve her image.
Sam Evans: Sam decided he was tired of his life in Texas and resolved he should move to Hollywood to pursue his dream of becoming a famous musician. Once there, he realized life in Los Angeles was a lot harder than he thought it would be — and settled for working as a bartender at Vocal Adrenaline. It is there that he met and fell in love with Rachel, the new performer at the parlour. Unfortunately, their relationship is kept a secret so as to not harm Rachel's reputation, something that Sam is very considerate about.
Mike Chang: What many might not know about the bartender at Vocal Adrenaline is that while he might be skilled at making drinks, he's even better at dancing. A few may have noticed when he moves with a level of agility that's very rare in most people. The only person who knows about his dancing is his longtime girlfriend, Tina, who is a performer at New Directions. They both moved from a small town in Northern California to try their hand at show business, but they remain together and faithful to each other no matter what.
Quinn Fabray: Born to a movie star mother and a business mogul father, Quinn Fabray has always considered herself a natural when it comes to performing. She's an excellent actress, considering that while she's one of the kindest people you will ever meet, chances are you have no idea, because that's a side of her only a few people get to see; to everyone else, she's cold and distant. She grew up performing and has more experience than the average movie star, so why is she still at Vocal Adrenaline? Simple. While her husband wouldn't mind if she left and moved on to bigger and better things, she simply doesn't want to. She has everything she needs right at that parlour.
Rachel Berry: The newest and certainly most enthusiastic performer at Vocal Adrenaline, Rachel is one hundred percent sure she wants to be famous. She knows she was meant to be loved by thousands of people all over the world — and she will stop at nothing to get there. While some may call her desperate, she feels the correct word to describe her is "determined." Either way, even if she might stoop low to climb the ladder of fame, her heart is in the right place; she loves Sam and wants to be with him, even if they have to wait until his big break for them to be together publicly.
Blaine Anderson: Blaine moved out to Hollywood from the Big Apple, and very much reluctantly so. He was perfectly happy in Manhattan, until his grandmother got sick and he had to move out west to take care of her. It was when he inherited the old parlour that had belonged to his grandfather that he realized he should rehabilitate it — and so New Directions was born. When it came to hiring his performers, he had quite the eye for finding new and upcoming talent — more so than expected. The minute he laid eyes on Kurt Hummel, he was a goner. Despite not being a Hollywood native, he had quite the few acquaintances. Not only was Dave Karofsky his childhood friend, but he also used to date Brittany so his little secret wouldn't get out.
Artie Abrams: Born and raised in a small town in Northern California, Artie had grown up dancing and singing. Both his parents were music aficionados and taught him several instruments as soon as he could learn them. Artie used to perform with Tina before he was in a car accident that caused him to lose use of his legs. Artie is the kind of person you want to be friends with — he's loyal, trustworthy, and no one's enemy. His biggest secret is that he's in love with Tina.
Wes Hamilton and David Lawrence: Lifelong friends, David and Wes ran away from their families in Florida, partly because they felt like it, but mostly because they didn't want anyone to find out about their secret relationship. The only person who knows about it is Blaine, who they met one night at Vocal Adrenaline. He told them about New Directions and offered to hire them, an offer they gladly took up. Now they share an apartment with Blaine above New Directions, but they keep as quiet as they used to about their relationship. David thinks they should trust the New Directions crew and wants to tell them, but Wes has trouble trusting people and doesn't think they should share this at all — but he really just wants David for himself.
Tina Cohen-Chang: Tina had dreamed of becoming a performer from the time she could walk. She got her break when Artie got her the job with New Directions, but when he was unable (and unwilling) to get Mike a job, Tina felt guilty. Mike reassured her it was okay, but it doesn't stop Tina from repeatedly asking Blaine to hire him. She might look confident on the outside, but when Kurt arrives, she's terrified he will replace her and she will have to go work at The Fury, which is why she resents him at first.
Brittany Pierce: Brittany's parents pressured her to follow in her mother's footsteps and become a ballerina her whole life. She grew up dancing, but she realized she didn't enjoy it anymore when she turned eighteen, although not before figuring out her sexuality thanks to her ballet classes — her appreciation for the female body was more than just curiosity. She snapped and moved to Tinseltown to pursue a career in showbiz, where she met Blaine and Santana, who she had a very special relationship with. However, when Blaine hired her and not Santana, the two drifted apart from each other. She mostly keeps to herself, but she dated Blaine (though only to hide that they were both gay) and is very close to Kurt.
Kurt Hummel: A new resident in Hollywood, Kurt moved out west with his stepbrother Finn because it had always been his ambition to become a performer. Son of a former actress who passed away when he was eight, Kurt feels he inherited his mom's talent, which is why he wants to pursue the career with so much determination. He finds New Directions by accident and gets hired immediately — probably because Blaine gets infatuated with him immediately (and the feelings were returned).
Dave Karofsky: Also a New Yorker, Dave decided to move to Hollywood because his family found out that he was gay and disowned him because of it. He was expecting his childhood friend Blaine to help him out when he arrived, but Blaine couldn't due to the fact that his grandmother was sick and getting worse every day. Dave went to work for the previous owner of The Fury (then called Aural Intensity) and did extremely well. When the owner mysteriously died, Dave was framed for the murder but he was never found guilty and the parlour was left in his possession. He still resents Blaine for not helping him out and would do anything to get Kurt to work for him.
Jacob Ben Israel: Originating from Las Vegas, Jacob grew up in his father's casino, and thus learned quite a bit of tricks. You definitely don't want to be on his bad side, because he is capable of quite a lot — especially if it means getting a reward in money. He has been working with Dave since he moved out to Tinseltown and has many, many ideas on how to get Kurt to leave New Directions, whether it be voluntarily or by force.
Noah Puckerman: Another Hollywood native, Noah came to work for The Fury as soon as it opened — mostly because he couldn't get work anywhere else. He has a big secret that no one seems to know, but whatever this secret is, it causes him to avoid Vocal Adrenaline and Quinn Fabray at all costs. He has no shame whatsoever, so he will do anything and everything to get what he wants.
Azimio Adams: Originally from Brooklyn, Azimio grew up with Mercedes next door. They moved out to LA together, but when they got there, Azimio began hanging out with Noah and Mercedes tried to get a job and follow her dream, but was unsuccessful in doing so. They both ended up working at The Fury but don't speak to each other anymore.
Santana Lopez: Santana moved to California from Colombia when she was just five years old. A true Latina at heart, she has always spoken in Spanish to her family and refuses to forget her roots. A singer first and foremost, she has been around Hollywood and used to work at Vocal Adrenaline before she mysteriously quit and began working at The Fury. Hopelessly in love with Brittany (not that she will admit it), she feels guilty for having pushed her away and wants to get her back.
Mercedes Jones: Born and raised in Brooklyn, Mercedes moved out to Hollywood with her friend Azimio, who she lived with for a few months — that is, until he fell in with the wrong crowd; namely, Noah Puckerman. She then went on auditions everywhere she could to get a job, but was unable to due to her skin color, so she ended up working in The Fury, even if very reluctantly so. She's desperate to get out and will do anything to find a new workplace.
Jesse St. James: A Hollywood native, Jesse has grown up around show business and its people. Both of his parents were famous actors before they suffered a tragic death when Jesse was just fifteen. It was for that reason that Jesse had to move in with his uncle, who owned a parlour, and found his true calling.
